Why a Click 160 ABS rental in Phuket is worth it
The first heavy shower of the afternoon is when most scooter accidents happen here: a layer of dust turns to grease, someone grabs the front brake, and the wheel locks. A Click 160 ABS rental in Phuket removes that failure mode. The 2024 model adds an anti-lock front brake and a rear disc to the Click 160 package, so a hard stop on a wet stretch of Patak Road or on the steep descent into Patong stays controlled.
Everything else that makes the Click 160 good is still here. The 156.93 cc eSP+ engine climbs the Kata–Karon viewpoint road and the Big Buddha switchbacks with a passenger without wheezing, the 18-litre under-seat box takes a half-face helmet, and the 5.5-litre tank goes a full day between fills at roughly 45 km per litre. At 118 kg it is a couple of kilos heavier than the non-ABS bike, which you will not notice in traffic.
If you are riding between May and October, or you have not been on a scooter in a few years, this is the one I would put you on.
Who it suits, and who should choose something else
Safety-conscious couples, riders in the wet season and parents renting for grown-up kids all land on this bike. If you are visiting in the dry season and want to save a little, the standard Honda Click 160 has the same engine. If you want ABS plus a bigger seat, a huge boot and a smart key for a longer stay, the Honda PCX 160 is the next step up. Our first-time riding in Thailand checklist explains why braking technique matters more here than at home.
What's included
Two helmets and a phone holder come with the bike, and we deliver free to any hotel, villa or the airport on the island. The deposit is refundable when you return the scooter. Thai law requires a Thai motorcycle licence or an International Driving Permit that covers motorcycles, and we explain what counts as a valid licence for a Phuket scooter rental in a separate guide. Open 10:00–19:00 daily; pay by cash, credit card or Alipay.
Best areas for the Click 160 ABS
We recommend it first for scooter rental in Karon, where the hill road to Patong is steep and busy, and for Kathu, the inland base for Patong Hill and the waterfall road.
