Honda Click 160 rental in Phuket: light, with power for the hills
A Honda Click 160 rental in Phuket is what I suggest when someone tells me their hotel is up a hill. The 156.93 cc eSP+ four-valve engine turns the climb from Kata to the Karon viewpoint, the switchbacks up to the Big Buddha and the long drag over Patong Hill into easy work, even with a passenger on the back.
What makes it special is that Honda kept the weight down. At 116 kg it is only a handful of kilos heavier than the Click 125, so it still threads through Old Town traffic and parks in the same tight gaps. The 778 mm seat is a little taller than the 125, which gives longer-legged riders more room. The 5.5-litre tank and roughly 45 km per litre put a full day of riding between fuel stops, and the 18-litre under-seat box takes a half-face helmet or a beach bag.
The brakes are Honda's Combi Brake with a front disc and rear drum. It stops well in the dry; if you are visiting between May and October when afternoon showers slick the roads, think about the ABS version mentioned below.
Who it suits, and who should choose something else
Choose the Click 160 if you plan to explore beyond one beach, ride two-up most days, or stay somewhere hilly like Kata or Kamala. If you will stay on the flat and want the lowest rate, the Honda Click 125 does the job. If you want the same bike with anti-lock brakes for the rainy season, book the Honda Click 160 ABS instead. Our comparison of 110, 125, 160 and 350 cc scooters for Phuket explains when the extra power pays off.
What's included
Two helmets and a phone holder are included, and we deliver free to any hotel, villa or the airport across the island. The deposit is refundable in full when the bike comes back as it left. Thai law requires a Thai motorcycle licence or an International Driving Permit that covers motorcycles; our guide on renting a scooter in Phuket with insurance covers the paperwork side. We are open 10:00–19:00 every day and accept cash, credit card and Alipay.
Best areas for the Click 160
This is the bike we recommend first for scooter rental in Kata, where every road out of town goes uphill, and for Chalong, the base for the Big Buddha road and the Soi Ta-iad gyms.
The full rate table is on our Phuket scooter rental prices page, and you can compare every model from the Nicky Scooter Rental home page.
