Karon is the long, open beach between Patong and Kata: three kilometres of sand with a traffic circle at the northern end and the temple on Patak Road at the southern end. Scooter rental Karon is one of our most requested deliveries, and because our shop is in Old Town rather than on the beach, we do it the practical way: you book, we ride the bike to you, and about 40 minutes later you have it. Delivery is free.
Karon has clear landmarks, which makes meeting easy: Karon Circle (the roundabout by the beach), Karon Beach itself at any of the access paths off the beach road, Karon Temple on Patak Road, or anywhere along Patak Road, the main street. If your hotel is on the hill at the Patong end, give us the name and we will ride up.
Bring your passport and your Thai motorcycle licence or International Driving Permit; Thai law requires one of these, and we do not hand over without it. The deposit and rental are paid by cash, credit card or Alipay. Two helmets are included, and we show you the under-seat storage and the fuel gauge before we leave.
Karon is the easiest of the west-coast beaches to ride. The beach road is wide, straight and flat for its full length, and Patak Road runs parallel one block inland with most of the shops. The only gradient inside Karon is the gentle rise around the circle. Things change at the edges: north, Route 4233 climbs over the headland to Patong with blind bends, and south, the short road into Kata narrows and fills with pedestrians.
Karon Temple Market runs on Tuesday and Friday evenings from around 16:00 to 22:00 in the grounds of Wat Suwan Khiri Khet on Patak Road, and the street around it gets congested; ride through slowly or take the beach road instead. Sand blows across the beach road after windy days, so slow down for the pale patches, which are slippery. Karon Beach scooter rental customers who are nervous about traffic can learn here and never need the hill roads at all.

The hotels on the beach road and the lanes behind it. Hand-over at the hotel entrance or on the beach road.
The roundabout zone at the north end, where most restaurants and tour desks are. We meet at the beach-side corner of the circle.
The inland road at the southern end around the temple and the Kata turn-off. Guesthouses here often have gated car parks; tell us which gate.
Kata begins a few hundred metres south of the temple. Patong is 8 km north over the Route 4233 headland, about 15 minutes with light traffic. Searches for motorbike rental Karon often come from people staying in one and planning days in the other; one bike covers both.
Karon has roadside motorbike parking along the entire beach road, and most hotels keep a shaded bay. The temple courtyard is full of stalls on market evenings, so there is no parking there. The nearest petrol station is on Patak Road towards the Kata end; it is small and busy around 17:00, so fuel up mid-morning. Bottle vendors on Patak Road sell small quantities if you run dry.

Yes, the easiest of the west-coast beaches. The beach road is wide, flat and straight for three kilometres, and Patak Road behind it is slow. Only the headland roads to Patong and Kata need care.
Tuesday and Friday evenings, roughly 16:00 to 22:00, in the temple grounds on Patak Road. Traffic around it is slow, so use the beach road at those times.
About 8 km north on Route 4233 over the headland, 15 minutes in light traffic. We recommend the Click 160 ABS or PCX 160 if you will ride it with a passenger.

Yes. Thai law requires a Thai motorcycle licence or an International Driving Permit to ride a scooter in Phuket. What police check, how to get an IDP, and why riding without one is a bad deal.
